Clipping the Poodle's Face

In preparation for clipping the side of the face fold the ear back against the head

Begin clipping the face, close to the ear and in a line level with the eye. Clip from the ear toward the corner of the eye.

The clippers must remain flat on the side of the face. Do not angle the teeth of the clipper into the skin as you will rash your poodle. Remember to hold your clippers as you would a pencil, between your fingers and resting on the webbing that is located between your thumb and first finger. The clippers will pull themselves through the hair, just use your hand to guide them along. You do not need to push them forward or use any force at all.

Use the top edge of the blade to clip under your poodles eye. Do not try and use the middle of the blade or you may cut your poodle's eye.

Clip from the eye to the end of the nose, along the length of the muzzle. Be very careful along the lip line, especially on the lower lip as you may catch loose bits of skin in the clipper.
