Harry the Superdog

Ch Chatain Crazy Like A Fox CD

Nov 11, 1988 - Oct 97   Ch Yot Club's Kalei Hoku X Ch Chatain Change of Heart

Harry the Hooligan ,as he became known to his friends, was born on November 11, 1987. He was purchased from Chatain Kennels in Melbourne and was given the name Chatain Crazy Like A Fox. He was my first white standard poodle.

His first show, was Easter weekend, 1988, at the new KCC park, in Victoria. He was shown in the conformation ring and had a runner-up in show to his credit. Harry joined the Pal Superdog team in 1990 and performed for six years, appearing in his last Adelaide Royal in 1995. His passion was jumping and playing flyball.

Harry's life was cut short in October 1997, when he died from a cancerous growth on the spine, and numerous other growths throughout his abdomen. The only change I saw was that he had put on a bit of weight, which I had thought was due to lack of exercise. After quitting the superdogs he had become a couch potatoe. The first sign that he was ill, occurred on Saturday afternoon, when I noticed that he had blood in his urine. Off to the vets and by Monday evening he was gone.

Harry was my constant companion. As part of the Superdog team we promoted the poodle with the funny haircut, in hopes of educating people as to the origins of the poodle lion trim. He was a great ambassador for the poodle breed and always the crowd favourite where ever the superdogs performed. Together Harry and I learned the art of poodle presentation for the show ring, the thrill of obtaining the title of Companion Dog at obedience trials, wowed the crowds with flyball demonstrations, and he just flew around the Pal Superdog jumping course. He had a passion for jumping. Now waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.
